Understanding the “TIP”, Transportation & your Tax $

If you follow Scott Hamilton’s blog “Sammamish Comment“, you’ve been hit with a barrage of “TIP” information this past week.  If you aren’t familiar with the TIP, it stands for Transportation Improvement Plan.  The plan functions more like a wish list of sorts, projects the city has on its radar for improvement, but that essentially are parked there until they are put on the budget and then actually initiated and funded.  Living on the TIP gives projects grant eligibility, so it’s more than just a wish list, it has function too.

As Sammamish Comment has hit upon this week, the TIP is certainly a bone of contention right now, especially during an election year.  Why?  To simplify the story, watch this video:
